A long-awaited dream has taken a major step toward becoming reality.
We are thrilled to announce that the Lamu Center of Preventative Health (LCPH) dental equipment container safely arrived in Lamu on July 30, 2026. After years of planning, fundraising, and the incredible generosity of our supporters, this milestone brings us one step closer to launching LCPH’s first Dental Health Program.
For many people in Lamu County, access to dental care is extremely limited, often requiring long and expensive travel to receive treatment. Our goal is to change that by providing affordable, high-quality dental services close to home, ensuring that families have access to preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care within their own community.
The arrival of this equipment marks the beginning of the next phase of the project. Over the coming weeks, we will begin unpacking, installing, and preparing the dental clinic so it is ready to welcome patients. At the same time, we are continuing to train a local dental assistant, helping build a sustainable program that will serve the community for many years to come.
This exciting initiative has been made possible through the extraordinary generosity and dedication of Dr. Rick Davidson, Hank Campbell, Illinois State University student volunteers, and Drake Zimmerman, whose hard work, fundraising efforts, and commitment have helped transform this vision into reality. We are also deeply grateful to the many donors, volunteers, and friends of LCPH whose support made this project possible.
The successful arrival of the container is a tremendous achievement, but our work is not finished. We are now focused on completing the clinic setup, installing the equipment, and preparing to begin providing much-needed dental services to the people of Lamu.
Soon, LCPH will be able to offer comprehensive dental care alongside our medical, laboratory, and eye care services, bringing us even closer to our vision of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare for the entire community.
