LCPH is a 501c3 (not-for-profit) organization dedicated to bringing preventative healthcare to the most impoverished peoples of coastal Kenya. All services are free of charge for patients, and the clinic is opened Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Many of the services we provide are either cost prohibitive and/or unavailable in the County. We invite you to explore this site, learn more about the people of Lamu, and the initiatives we have implemented and on which we are currently working. Preventative Care
Our main goal is centered on conducting health screenings and providing health education, with a particular focus on preventing chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension which are increasingly prevalent among coastal Kenyans.

In 2023, the total number of patient visits surpassed an astonishing threshold of 8000. Remarkably, a significant proportion, precisely 25%, was attributed to hypertension and diabetes.

In our laboratory, we offer an extensive array of services meticulously tailored to facilitate comprehensive screenings for a diverse range of diseases. These encompass, but are not restricted to, conditions such as Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Dengue Fever, and numerous others.

We engage in collaborative efforts with various organizations, such as the Ministry of Health in Lamu County, with the noble aim of enhancing healthcare accessibility for individuals who find themselves in dire need of it.

Eye Care
In the year 2023, we were able to distribute over 1000 pair of eyeglasses to individuals in need. Our dedicated efforts are focused on providing essential eye care services to the community. One of our key initiatives is to ensure that glaucoma screening is accessible throughout the year, effectively addressing the needs of our valued community members.

After a long and complex process, we’re finally ready to ship new dental units—thanks to the generous donations of retired DDS Dr. Rick Davidson and his daughter. We now have equipment to set up seven fully functioning dental offices in Lamu and the surrounding region, including one in a dedicated space at our LCPH clinic.
Through the unwavering support of committed Rotarians in the Bloomington-Normal area, we are working to establish dental services in Lamu County, with the goal of launching by 2026. EYE CLINIC July, 2018 – with eye doctors Erick & Erin Henderson, intern Annie Crumbaugh, and Rebecca and Munib Mafazy. Over 300 patients received eye care and glasses, free of charge.

Dental Care Initiative
Through the unwavering support of committed Rotarians in the Bloomington Normal area, and in close partnership with the Lamu County Ministry of Health, we are earnestly striving towards the successful establishment of dental services in the region of Lamu County. Our collaborative endeavors are focused on bringing this initiative to fruition by the year 2025. If you are interested in helping with this project, please contact us!
